Undergoing community consultation, Ellie identified a need in Callington for a project which expanded a sense of commmunity following the national lockdown in 2019. With Callington Memory Cafe being unable to meet since March (due to Covid-19), the members have been experiencing heightened isolation and disconnection from others in their community. Furthermore, the children at Callington Community College are “retreating to their rooms, in a similar way to the older people in care homes” - as Miss Ramwell described - so a project which shone some light on new connection and expanded a sense of community was designed. Callington’s Creative Connections invited the children and older members of the community to exchange letters, with the children creating ‘boxes of joy’ for their new friends at the memory cafe. The boxes included a personalised lino stamp, designed by the children for the memory cafe members to use.  Film to come
